COCO, founded by former Olympic athlete Steve Cram, is a partner charity for the newly launched York 10K, which took place for the first time on August 2nd 2009. COCO is a registered children's charity working on closely monitored education and healthcare initiatives that make a big difference to the lives of children living in poverty throughout the developing world.Since 2000, COCO has raised over £1.3 million, helping to fund children's projects in developing countries, primarily in Africa (Liberia, Malawi, Uganda, South Africa, Kenya and Tanzania) and also in Thailand, Bosnia, Peru and Romania.
"It's an honour that COCO has been chosen as one of the events beneficiaries and have the opportunity to highlight the fantastic work of our projects overseas, dramatically changing the lives of children all over Africa, a cause I know Jane believed in."

At COCO we focus our work on initiatives that make the biggest possible difference to the lives of the children we help. A little can go a long way, particularly in Africa. Just £5 can buy two treatedbed nets protecting children from the dangers of malaria, a disease which can be fatal in Africa. Just £10 feeds 42 students for one day at COCO's Vocational Training Centre, which is likely to be the only meal they will have that day and donating £100 will provide two years education for one student in Songea, Tanzania.
