The Bells are ringing as telecoms company celebrates 30 years in business

Our incredible supporters, LTS today celebrate 30 years of service across Yorkshire and beyond.

And in its three decades of history, Local Telecom Service (LTS) has certainly rung in the changes.

From humble beginnings in 1985, the company has gone from strength to strength and now provides a full broadband and communications service.

LTS, which is still family-owned, will mark this major milestone by staging a birthday reception for customers, suppliers and guests, while also supporting two local charities.

Today the company threw open its doors in Clifton Moor with demonstrations and displays, goody bags, competitions, coffee - and the obligatory birthday cake!

We were there alongside our fellow partner charity St Leonard's Hospice to show our support and thanks to the LTS team.

LTS was formed in 1985 when its founder Peter Hawkins started the business. Initially known as Kestrel Telecom, it became LTS in 2000 when the company became limited. Peter's daughter Sarah and her husband Mark Mills joined the business in the 1990s and took over its running when Peter retired in 2010.

They and their team work with business and organisations - from barristers to builders and estate agents to residential care homes - across Yorkshire and further afield. Among the many organisations they serve are: Mulberry Hall, Your Local Link, Coalters Estate Agents, David Newton & Co Accountants, Riccall Carers as well as the Jane Tomlinson Appeal and St Leonard's Hospice.

Sarah Mills, director at LTS, said: "It is fantastic to reach this 30 year milestone, and it would not have been possible without our brilliant team.

"They have as much passion for telecoms and everything involved in providing the highest levels of service as Mark and I do and we really could not ask for more!

"It is sad that my Dad is not here to join us in the celebration today, especially as he passed away only last year.

"I know that he would have wanted us to blow our trumpet, though, and that Dad would have been immensely proud to see that the business that he worked so hard to establish has gone from strength to strength."

Mike Tomlinson, of the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, said: "A huge congratulations to Mark and Sarah and the team; 30 years is a fantastic achievement.

"LTS have been key supporters of ours for several years and we're extremely grateful for all they do for us. The service we receive is always professional, efficient and, importantly, it's extremely fast! There's always someone there at the end of the phone to help should an issue arrive.

"When you run a fast-paced charity and event company, that level of service is imperative and LTS has always been exemplary. Happy birthday to the team!"

Scott Littlefair, director of Letters of Distinction, said: "We have relied on the communication services provided by LTS since 2008 when we moved from our serviced offices in Fishergate to our established premises on Holgate Road.

"From the moment we met with Mark we soon realised their business ethics were not too dissimilar to our own and throughout this time the LTS team have assisted us credibly as our business needs have developed."

Sue Lamb, Managing Director Solarwall, said: "As a long established company ourselves, it is great to see one of our trusted and excellent suppliers reach a milestone birthday, the quality of their service is exceptional and I am sure that is what has helped them achieve longevity in this current economic climate."
