When the Appeal was launched back in 2002 Jane & Mike Tomlinson set themselves the challenge of raising as much money as possible in order to support an array of children's and cancer charities across the country.
With every endurance event Jane did came an overwhelming level of support from members of the public and before her death in 2007 Jane had raised an amazing £1.85million. in 2015 ten years since the Appeal started it's fundraising journey we had reached a staggering milestone of £7.6million.
The Appeal looks to support charitable organisations with a
focus on children's or cancer related activities, services or
operations and as we have grown the geographical location of the
charities supported has also grown with organisations across
Yorkshire, Lancashire and Lincolnshire now being able to apply for
The Appeal awards grants up to a maximum of £10,000 per organisation per annum for a mixture of capital and revenue costs for both specific projects and for general running/core costs. Our grants are awarded by our trustees twice a year and are discussed at trustees meetings in April and October.
Following the April trustee's meeting our first set of grants for 2016 were awarded to 29 organisations, over £63,000 was given to a number of causes in Yorkshire, Lancashire and Lincolnshire and we wanted to let you know how the money raised by our fantastic fundraisers is going to help locally.
