Figures show that in Leeds alone, 7% of children - around 10,800 - will be bereaved of a parent or sibling by the age of 18.
Over 2,000 of these children will be affected in primary school.
National estimates suggest that one parent dies every 22 minutes.
With Jane Tomlinson's own children losing their mother in childhood, the Appeal aims to support other children going through tragic circumstances.
The scheme is currently in development. Please check back for more details.
Jane's Fundraising Challenges
I'm delighted to support the Leeds 10K. Jane, a Sparks vice-president herself, was a truly inspirational figure who became our biggest-ever individual fundraiser.
