Cricket star Sidebottom set to bowl over audience at Jane Tomlinson Appeal’s Sporting Social

Cricketing - and ice-dancing - star Ryan Sidebottom is the latest signing for an evening of sporting fun for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.

The England International and Yorkshire bowler, who retired in 2017 after taking more than 1,000 wickets during a 20-year career, will join a fantastic line up of sporting celebrities in Leeds this September for The Sporting Social.

Ryan will join Olympic Heptathlon gold medalist Dame Jesscia Ennis-Hill on the all-star panel, with the evening once more hosted by TV's Clare Balding, a patron of the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.

Ryan, who recently wowed TV audiences with his skating prowess on ITV's Dancing on Ice, said: "Jane was an extraordinary lady who showed such remarkable courage and strength, achieving everything she did after being diagnosed with incurable cancer.

"I'm thrilled and honoured that I can help support the Jane Tomlinson Appeal in carrying on her legacy to help children and people living with cancer.

Guests will also enjoy a meal devised and prepared by Leeds-based celebrity chef Matt Healy.

"The Sporting Social promises to be a huge amount of fun and I'm already looking forward to it. I hope that lots of people will come and join us for a truly fantastic, evening."

The Sporting Social - back for a third year - will see sports personalities reminisce about their greatest moments, on and off the field.

The big names of athletics, football, cricket and rugby will also take on the audience in a fast-paced sports speed quiz to see if their brains match their brawn! Guests will enjoy a meal devised and prepared by Leeds-based celebrity chef Matt Healy.

More big name stars will be announced soon. Guests at the high-profile event in 2018 included Olympian Sir Chris Hoy, boxer Johnny Nelson, Paralympian Hannah Cockroft and footballers Dominic Matteo and Danny Mills.

The Sporting Social will take place at the Queen's Hotel, Leeds, on Friday 27th September. Tickets are on sale now, and are already selling fast. Tickets are priced, £65 a head, or £600 for a table of 10, and include all entertainment, welcome reception drinks and a two-course Matt Healy dinner.

To purchase tickets go to: https://sportingsocial2019.eventdesq.com/ or if you would prefer to be invoiced, please email katie@janetomlinsonappeal.com

Funds raised will go to support the Appeal's work with children and people affected by cancer.
