Volunteers from the RBS Invoice Finance offices in Leeds and Manchester have taken time out of their day jobs to organise a charity dinner held last night at the Queens Hotel in Leeds which raised£13K for Help for Heroes and the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.
200 people from the Yorkshire and Lancashire business communities attended the event which was compéred by Jon Hammond. Guest speakers also included Mike Tomlinson who gave a motivational speech about Jane's first London Marathon in 2002 and how that then kick started the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, and Chris Hunter, a former bomb disposal operator in Iraq, author and fundraiser.
John Gribbon, Regional Managing Director for RBS Invoice Finance in the North explained:
"My colleagues and I are delighted to take time out of our day jobs to help raise money for two very worthwhile causes. The response from the local business communities has been fantastic. They have helped us to make last night's dinner a great success and raise £13k to be split between the two charities."
Bryn Parry, from Help for Heroes said: "H4H is all about 'doing your bit' and this event is a wonderful example of people having a good idea, rallying support and having a great deal of fun while they raise money for a wonderful cause. We have been able to use the £millions raised, over £124m in just four years, to provide practical and direct support to those wounded in the current conflicts. The money you raise is needed, it is being used and it is hugely appreciated; sadly, we need a great deal more. You are part of something that is very British and wonderful and I would like to say thank you for this and every other fund raising event that it inspires."
Mike Tomlinson, Trustee of the Jane Tomlinson Appeal added: "As we mark the 10th anniversary of the Jane Tomlinson Appeal this year we continue to be overwhelmed by the level of ongoing support we receive from both the corporate sector and public alike. It's a very special year for the Appeal and we are so grateful to RBS Invoice Finance for the support they have shown us."
