The Appeal has been handed a cash boost thanks to the fundraising efforts of big-hearted staff at a recycling and green energy company.
A 14-strong team from the Halifax-based Leo Group raised a magnificent £14,319 for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal when they took part in the 2014 Clarion Corporate Challenge, which forms part of the Asda Foundation Leeds 10K.
The amount raised by Leo Group topped the £11,990 it managed to raise for the appeal in last year's corporate challenge.
Siobhan Curtis, Jane Tomlinson Appeal legacy manager, said: "We are extremely grateful to Leo Group. Their team put in another super effort in the corporate challenge to raise so much money. Their generous donation will help support the work of some very worthy causes."
Leo Group's Managing Director Danny Sawrij who, along with his wife, Jo, took part in the event, said: "This was a fantastic achievement by both colleagues and friends that took part in the run. I'd like to thank everybody who kindly made donations, but also those who supported us and cheered us on at the event."
The Clarion Corporate encourages local businesses to pit teams of runners against each other, and this year the event saw more than 50 teams from companies and other organisations across the region taking part.
Up to 10,000 people took part in this year's Asda Foundation Leeds 10K. It was the eighth running of the event which has so far raised over £2.5m for charity.
Next year's run will be held on July 12th. To enter and to be part of the Appeal team email firstname.lastname@example.org
