Two Leeds Olympians - Diver, Rebecca Gallantree and Weightlifter Jack Oliver, will launch the city's first ever urban assault course today!
Primal Stampede is a 3.5km assault course on Sunday 23rd August 2015 featuring 20 challenging and fun obstacles around the newly re-developed Leeds Dock. All proceeds from the event, organised by Primal Gym, go to the Jane Tomlinson Appeal and Cash for Kids.
Rebecca Gallantree, who was named Sportswoman of the Year at the 2015 Leeds Sports Awards, will be trying out some of the obstacles today.
She said: "Fitness has always played an important role in my life so it's great to see events like this taking place, which encourage people to get the heart pumping and legs moving! It's not just about fitness though; it's about raising important funds for charity as well. It promises to be a fantastic day and one I'm proud to support."
British record holder, Olympic and 2 x Commonwealth Games competitor Jack Oliver said:"Events such as this provide a great opportunity for people to get involved in fun fitness activities who wouldn't normally try them. These events demonstrate that the world of health and fitness isn't all about hard work. It'salso a great way to enjoy yourself, meet new people and get involved in a community. The fact that the event is also raising money for charity shows perfectly how health and fitness can be a benefit to everyone, not just those directly involved."
Siobhan Curtis, Legacy Manager at Jane Tomlinson Appeal said: "As the first event of its kind in Leeds we are so grateful to the team at Primal for asking the Appeal to get involved. Everyone loves an event with a bit of friendly competition and the course the team have designed will be a testing one but a great opportunity for some team building. We'd love to see companies, clubs and individuals signing up for the challenge and joining the Appeal Team for what is set to be a fantastic event."
