Be one of the magnificent seven at the Yorkshire Marathon

A team of runners on course to raise over £2,000 for the Jane Tomlinson Appeal by tackling the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon have sent out an urgent plea for another runner to join them.

Earlier this year the Chicago Black Toes, a global running club for athletes aged over 34, entered the marathon with a seven-strong team that is aiming to complete the 26.2 miles in a cumulative time of under 24 hours.

But with just days to go one of their number has had to pull out and a replacement is desperately needed.

The team is looking for a runner who is aged over 34, willing to wear the club's shirt and is confident of running 4hrs 30mins or under.

Chris Carey, one of the team said: "I was lucky enough to know Jane Tomlinson and she remains one of the most inspiring people I've ever met. The appeal is a great cause for which to run.

"As our club is free to join there's no commitment at all beyond wearing our club colours on the day, being over 34 and being confident they can hit a 4hr 30minute time or under."

There is no entry fee to join the team on Sunday 9th October.
