Our patrons and ambassadors
The Appeal is extremely fortunate and grateful to have the support of a number of high-profile patrons, who have been inspired by Jane’s story.
BAFTA award-winning Clare Balding OBE is one of the county’s best-known and most-respected journalists and broadcasters. She is a patron of the Appeal and hosts its annual Sporting Social fundraising evening.
Record-breaking ‘Hurricane’ Hannah Cockroft MBE is a five times gold medallist Paralympic wheelchair athlete who triumphed at both the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Paralympics. She is a patron of the Appeal.
A patron of the Appeal, Paula Radcliffe MBE is the fastest female marathoner of all time and has held the Women’s World Marathon Record in a time of 2:15:25 since 2003.
Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson
One of the United Kingdom's most successful disabled athletes with 16 Paralympic medals, Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson is a long-time patron of the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.
Appeal patron Eleanor Oldroyd has a voice known to millions as a popular sports reporter and presenter on BBC Radio 5 Live. She describes being ‘blown away’ by Jane’s incredible spirit.
Former Leeds United, Manchester City and England defender, turned football commentator, Danny is a huge supporter and ambassador for the Appeal.
Former Leeds Rhinos and Great Britain star Barrie McDermott is an ambassador for the Appeal and has pulled on his running shoes to represent the Appeal in numerous events.
Meet the team
The Appeal is staffed by a small team committed to carrying on the incredible work that Jane started.
Vicki, a former journalist, got to know Jane and her family well before joining the organisation to head up communications. She is now the Appeal Manager.
Katie is the charity’s Fundraising Manager and leads on corporate partnership and major events like the annual Sporting Social evening.
Rachel is the Appeal’s Community Fundraiser and works with schools and other local groups to generate funds for the Appeal.
Kerry is the Appeal’s part-time Administrator and manages our office tasks as well as keeping our fundraisers and supporters up to date.
Nicole is the Co-ordinator of our OWLS Bereavement Service and is the first port of call for grieving families and children.
Psychotherapist Chloe specialises in dramatherapy and provides one-to-one support for families and children who have suffered a bereavement.
